The Standard Bed was the design that Martin Walsh first made when he started Taurus back in 1979. We think that tells you in itself what a great design it is. All that's changed is some improvements to the jointing techniques that we use now, but the design itself is identical. To be honest, it's proved itself a bit of a classic in the design of wooden beds. (And is imitated by more than one of our competitors.) This is the original, however. With its simple elegance, and double rail headboard, Standard Beds look fantastic in both contemporary and more traditional looking bedrooms.

What people say
"I bought two Standard beds at the same time. One’s a double for our spare room for when either of our parents come to stay. The other is a Super King size for our bedroom. Even though I wanted the same bed in each room - partly because of its price - I wanted a different look for each room.
The spare room is fresh and very simple, and I chose the Beeswax finish. It looks great against the very pale blue walls in there, and my mum liked it so much she's actually bought exactly the same bed herself at home for her spare room. I wanted something a bit more special in our room, and so I went for the Dark Mahogany lacquer. It looks absolutely great. It just transforms it from being a lovely simple and unpretentious bed in one room, to being a real centrepiece in the other."
